Limes are a good source of vitamin C, vitamins, and antioxidants and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. You can juice limes, use limes to accent flavor, or make lime water to quench your thirst. While regular limes provide ample nutrients, organic limes may be the best option if you are looking for the freshest and most flavorful juice.
Today, Khun Nok Prassaneeyporn Arsirpat, one of the best organic growers from IMPACT FARM who was born and bred in Ratchaburi and earned a bachelor’s degree from Maejo University, will share her long journey of food from farm to table.
Khun Nok had worked as a restaurant manager for more than a decade before shifting her focus to farming in the hope of landing extra income. Her light-bulb moment came on at the right moment when she decided to abandon her tough job for this farming business owned and operated by her parent, and she was lucky to have her parent as a mentor. Through her persistent commitment to do business without a middleman, she ended up farming organic limes due to their versatility, high market demand, and year-round harvests.
What differentiates organic limes from conventional limes?
She says “I’ve been growing organic limes for years. I notice that they tend to last longer. Lime trees in the back of my house are more than 10 years old and still look healthy. They produce plenty of minerals and have thinner skin and fewer seeds than conventional limes. Organic limes are booming, and consumers are willing to pay more to get them.”
At her “Suan Nok Insee” garden, Khun Nok grows many other fruits such as banana, rose apple, passionfruit, tamarind, mango, and guava that customers love and tell her they taste better than other competitors.
“I was feeling somewhat proud of myself when customers complimented me back in my restaurant days, but my feeling has blossomed significantly as a farmer and as someone who provides ingredients that really matter to customers,” Khun Nok explained.
“What matters most to me is that I want to see our people buy our products that are grown in our country and support the Thai organic farming communities. They may not look aesthetically pleasing to your eyes, but they are rich in nutrients and provides ample health benefits,” concluded Khun Nok.
