How to start farming to supplement your income

You might not get a good paycheck being a farmer but if you want to contribute to society and create a meaningful life, then this job is right for you. Mr. Boonserm Kraingam, owner of the Boonserm Happiness station, San Sai, Chiang Mai, will share his happy farming tips for the audience below.

Boonserm, a retired government agent who finds happiness in his own land, ushers in a new journey as a farmer. He grows food and eats most of what he grows, mostly organic produce, and turns leftovers like fish, soil beans, banana, milk, and eggs into manure that help him save lots of money.

With years and years of working as a farmer, he has learned some tips to make money farming. Those are:

1)save some money by making your own fertilizer (gardeners can save money by making their own materials in lieu of buying them from a store)
2)Form a community to sell your products, find, and make connections with buyers so that you have equal bargaining power with the middleman

“I hope conventional farmers will consider farming organically,” concluded Boonserm
